Nottingham’s food and drink scene is about to get even better. From stylish cocktail bars to cosy independents and exciting new foodie spots, the city is welcoming a fresh wave of openings that are sure to tempt locals and visitors alike. Here’s a round-up of the bars and restaurants set to open their doors in Nottingham in 2025.
The legendary restaurant chain is finally opening a new site in the heart of Nottingham City Centre. Due to open in 2025 and located in the unit previously housing Hugo Boss on Clumber Street, this will be only the second site to open in the Midlands with the original restaurant opening in 1917 in Covent Garden, London. Serving the best bottomless brunch, afternoon tea and a menu full of glorious cocktails in a sumptuous and elegant environment, The Ivy is not to be missed and is only a ten-minute walk from Lace Market Point. Make sure to book a table, diners will be scrambling to sample this true icon of British dining.
The revolutionary dining experience, which opened its first site in Glasgow in 2017, is due to open on Queen Street in summer 2025. With a specially themed menu that changes every six weeks, this is a concept restaurant unlike anything Nottingham has experienced before. Situated in the old George’s fish and chip restaurant, Six by Nico will enjoy 92 covers with rumours of an exclusive 12-seater private dining room. This will be the restaurant’s 17th location with other sites including London, Leeds and Manchester. Previous menu themes have included Murder on the Midnight Express, The Chippie and The Italian Road Trip. Less than a 15-minute walk through the city centre from Hylyfe, this will be a foodie’s paradise.
Promised to be ‘Nottingham’s most distinctive dining experience’, Noshi will open in the summer of 2025 in Trinity Square in the previous Gourmet Burger unit. The 120-seater family-run restaurant will celebrate a Pan-Asian menu where modern Japanese and Chinese-inspired flavours are combined, all designed by an executive development chef, who has trained worldwide across London, New York and Shanghai. This is one for the foodies but there will be an exceptional drinks menu to accompany so grab your friends and make the 15-minute walk from your Hylyfe accommodation to sample this fusion of flavours.
The square footage of this amazing new cocktail bar cannot be high but what it lacks in space is more than made up for by the drinks menu. The cosy atmosphere is perfect for a catchup with friends or an intimate date night with seating outside for warmer weather and a space upstairs for a larger group. The staff are welcoming and friendly and if you sit in the window, you get a magnificent view of Nottingham Castle which is just over the road. Fun fact: this is the sister venue to tequila bar and iconic Nottingham venue, 400 Rabbits. A 15-minute stroll through the city centre and you will arrive at your new favourite cocktail hangout.
Due to open in autumn 2025 in an as-of-yet undisclosed location in Hockley, the team behind the successful small-plate restaurant, Mesa, will open the doors to Vaso. This will predominantly be a wine bar with a bottle shop available to peruse but they will serve small bites and tapas should you wish to while away an afternoon or evening. The concept is by a father and daughter duo who are taking inspiration from their travels around the world. There will be influences from Portugal, South Korea and Japan but they are keen to use local suppliers where possible. Only a quick 7-minute walk through the Lace Market and into iconic and bustling Hockley, you will be spoilt for choice along this stretch of varied bars and restaurants with Vaso a much-anticipated addition to an already thriving area.
